Stack’s Bowers Galleries is pleased to announce their Spring 2025 U.S. Currency Showcase Auction. Presented in three sessions over a period of two days from April 3-4, collectors will have the opportunity to bid on remarkable rarities that represent rare and even generational opportunities.
Session 6, which emphasizes Colonial and Continental notes as well as Obsoletes and Confederate issues, will commence at 11:00 AM PT on Thursday, April 3. Highlights include a remarkable uncut panel of (16) Continental Notes (CC-23 to CC-30) that has been graded Choice About Uncirculated 58 by PMG (Lot 20130) and is pedigreed to the Richard August Collection. Also of note are conditional rarities and a full set of “Montgomery” Notes issued under the authority of the Confederate States of America in 1861.

Session 7 of the Paper Money Spring Auction, beginning at 3:00 PM PT on April 3, likewise offers a diverse range of rarities, including pieces from the Eric Agnew Collection. Highlights include an Uncut Sheet of (4) 1902 $5 Date Back issued by the Marin County National Bank (Charter# 10177), an almost generational auction opportunity (Lot 21111), and a remarkable assortment of National Banknotes of California. A Series 1882 $10 Date Back from the twilight of Arizona’s Territorial period (Lot 21006) and an exceptional Gem Uncirculated Original Series $2 from Ohio (Lot 21216) are just two of the many additional National Notes sure to be of great interest to bidders.

Session 8 comprises close to 450 individual lots, anchored by offerings from the Shores Collection Part I and the Hararn Family Collection. Bidders will marvel at an incredibly diverse assortment of impressive rarities, including a Series 1880 $500 Silver Certificate graded Choice Fine 15 by PMG (Lot 22343). This note from the Shores Collection is set to be the undisputed highlight of this auction as it represents the sole collectible example of its Friedberg number. A Series 1878 $10 “Triple Signature” Silver Certificate with the penned countersignature of Assistant Treasurer J.C. Hopper, graded Very Fine 30 by PMG (Lot 22305), will be offered, as will a remarkable assortment of highlights seldom matched at auction. The Hararn Family Collection presents an important group of large-size error notes that includes a Series 1918 $2/$1 Federal Reserve Bank Note Dual Denomination Error graded by PCGS Currency (Lot 22092), which provides a rare opportunity for error specialists.
